How to Clean Tiles With Vinegar

Ceramic tile can be tough to maintain, and many of the commercial products on the market are expensive and detrimental to the environment. But there's a natural product you can use to clean your tile that requires little or no rinsing and is safe to use around children and pets. Things You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Bucket
  • Sponge with scrubber backing
  • Mop

Instructions

      Pour 1/2-cup vinegar into one gallon of hot water.

      Dip a sponge or mop into the mixture and wipe down the tiles or floor using a back and forth motion and taking care to cover the entire surface.

      Scrub any scuff marks or heavily soiled areas with the scrubber side of the sponge. Wipe off residue with the sponge.

Tips & Warnings

  • For areas with heavy soap scum or stained grout, apply vinegar full strength and allow to set for five minutes. Scrub gently, then wipe off with a sponge.
