Calcuating shipping costs used to be hit or miss. Now online tools make calculating shipping rates fast and accurate. Each major shipping company's website allows you to enter the details of your shipment to get an accurate estimate of shipping rates.

1. Go to the USPS shipping calculator website. (See Resources below.)

2. Choose the details of your shipment. Pick the destination, the type of package or letter, the shipping zip code and your zip code, the date and time of the shipment.

3. Click "continue" for a break down of the shipment options available and costs.

FedEx

1. Go to the FedEx website for shipping quotes. (See Resources below.)

2. Enter the location you are shipping from, as well as the arrival location. Enter the number of packages, the weight of the packages, the time and date of pick-up and delivery.

3. Click "Get detailed quote" for an estimate of your shipping rate.

UPS

1. Go to the UPS website for shipping rates. (See Resources below.)

2. Choose the type of shipping rate quote you'd like to calculate. Choose the location you are shipping from, the destination of your shipment, the number of packages, and the weight.

3. Click "Next" for a detailed breakdown of shipping rates.
