Things You'll Need:
- Prell
- Color Oops color remover
- At-home bleach kit
-
Step 1
Shampoo your hair with Prell. Leave the lathered Prell in your hair for ten minutes. Rinse your hair and apply Prell again. Leave it in your hair for ten minutes and rinse. Repeat the process a third time.
-
Step 2
Use a color-removal kit like Color Oops. Apply Color Oops to dry hair and leave it on for 20 minutes. Color Oops will leave your hair a dull color, so you will most likely want to redye it after stripping the black.
-
Step 3
Bleach your hair with an at-home bleaching kit like Clairol's Born Blonde. Mix together the kit's color developer and colorant solutions. Put on rubber gloves and apply the mixture to your hair. Leave the bleach on your hair for approximately 20 minutes--no longer than 40 minutes.

Step 4
Go to the hairdresser to get a professional hair fix. Your hairdresser can strip the color and redye your hair on the same day. Although it is the most expensive option, it is also the safest way to remove black dye from your hair.
