Instructions

    • 1

Make a small ball out of one color of the clay, about 1 inch in diameter. Roll it out with a rolling pin until it is 1/4 inch thick.

    • 2

Use a small flower shaped cookie cutter to cut out a flower from the clay. Alternately, use a round cookie cuter and cut out the petal shapes with a clay or craft knife.

    • 3

From a different color of clay, make five small balls, each about 1/8 inch. Place one ball on each petal of the clay flower near the center and gently press flat with your finger.

    • 4

Make a slightly larger ball from a third color and lightly press it into the center of the flower. Avoid flattening this ball, and allow it to stay slightly domed.

    • 5

Poke a 1-inch piece of 22 gauge craft wire through one of the petals. Place the charm on a foil-covered cookie sheet.

    • 6

Preheat your oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 15 minutes or according to manufacturer's directions. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

    • 7

Remove the craft wire from the charm. Twist open a jump ring and slide it through the hole in the flower. Twist the jump ring shut. The charm is now ready to use in your craft projects.

Tips & Warnings

  • Seal your charms in a gloss paint to make them even more durable and to add an attractive shine. Special punches are available to cut out shapes from clay.

  • Allow clay to cool completely and use oven mitts to avoid burns.
