According to Tantra-Kundalini.com , a yantra is a complex geometric piece of artwork that is used to grow or evolve the consciousness of the viewer. The shapes change and shift from the center of the yantra to the outer edges. Staring into a yantra can be tool to help someone focus on their inner being and their connection to the universe. You can draw your very own yantra to meditate and reflect on. Creating your own yantra allows you to add your own personality to the artwork. This will make the yantra specific to your life experience.

Instructions

      Draw a large square in the center of the pages. Add a circle inside this square that touches each side of the square. Inside the circle, add two squares, one on top of the other. Turn one of the square so that it is diagonal. This will create a star shape.

      Draw a triangle inside the innermost square. Add an upside down triangle on top of the first. Draw an upside down triangle inside the first triangle.

      Draw a circle around the two squares inside the yantra. This circles should touch each corner of the two overlapping squares. Add 4 "T" shapes that are very wide at the top section of the "T" and shorter at the bottom. Place these on the middle of each side of the large square.

      Add parallel lines around the outer square. Add parallel lines inside each "T" section. Add parallel lines around the inside of each of the triangles. Add a small circle to each corner of the two inside squares. Place a small dot inside each of these circles.

      Ink the entire drawing of the yantra with black ink to make the illustration last as well as to help the lines of the drawing to really show on the page. Wait at least 5 minutes and then erase all of the pencil lines with a kneaded eraser.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can color the yantra using art markers. Use basic primary colors like yellows and reds.

  • Be sure to keep your lines straight and clean or the yantra will not have quite as much of a mesmerizing effect.
