How to Convert Inches to Centimeters Using a Calculator

The metric system is widely used all over the world and is gaining popularity in the United States. You can convert inches to centimeters by using a calculator and following a few simple steps.

Instructions

1. Enter the number of inches that you wish to convert into your calculator. If your original figure includes feet, remember to multiply 12 inches by the number of feet. For example, 6 feet would be 72 inches.

2. Press the multiplication button (x) and enter the value 2.54. The figure 2.54 comes from the fact that there are 2.54 cm to every inch.

3. Press the equal (=) sign on your calculator. The new figure that appears is your final answer in centimeters.

4. Refer to this example if necessary. To convert 50 inches to centimeters, perform the following: 50 x 2.54 = 127. So 50 inches equals 127 cm.
