How to Convert AVI to MOV for OS X
If you have some AVI files on your Mac that you are having some problems with or that you want to be able to use in QuickTime then you can convert those AVI files to the QuickTime MOV format. In order to do the AVI to MOV conversion on your Mac you will need a converter program for the OS X operating system. DivX Doctor II is a popular freeware converter program that can quickly convert AVI to MOV for OS X.

Locate your AVI file that you want to convert. Copy the AVI file to your desktop to make the process easier.

Download and install DivX Doctor II from the 3ivx website (see Resources). This is a freeware program so you will not have to pay to use it. Once you install this program you should have the application icon on your desktop.

Click on your AVI file on your desktop. Drag and drop that file onto the DivX Doctor II application icon. This will start the conversion and open the batch conversion window. If the file is not an AVI the program will beep at you to let you know.

Watch the conversion progress in the batch conversion window. If you have other AVI files to convert you can drag and drop them into the batch conversion window and they will process after the initial file completes.

Click "OK" when the batch conversion is complete. The new MOV files will be saved to the desktop for you to use. If you have any problems viewing the MOV files in QuickTime you may not have the latest codec and can download the 3ivx MPEG-4 codec from the 3ivx website and install it to your Mac.
