Decide on and check the availability of your domain name. A quick Internet search will lead you to dozens of sites where you can see if your desired domain name is available. You can also do a search at a domain name registrar, such as GoDaddy.com, and use their domain name look-up tool to search for available domain names.

Search for the web host you will be using and write down or copy the DNS servers information, which can be found by contacting the web host or by searching the "FAQs" tab for the information. These are most likely the same DNS servers that you will be using.

Proceed to an Accredited Registrar Directory, such as InterNic, and search the database for accredited registrars located around the world. Use this list to research various registrars to find one that fits your budget and is located in your country. A few of the most popular domain name registrars are GoDaddy, NameCheap, Enom, Tucows and Dotster.

Register a new account at the domain registrar that you have chosen in the step 3. This includes choosing a domain name, filling out some personal information, and paying the approximately $10 fee to purchase the domain for the first year.
