How to Unzip a Large File

Zipping files is a way to compress large or numerous files into one folder, making them easy to send or download. Zip files are not opened like regular files, but must be unzipped or opened before you can access their contents. With most browsers, it is possible to unzip a file on your computer and search the folders or files in their normal format within the unreadable zip file.

Instructions

1. Find your zipped file on your computer and double-click on the folder to open it.

2. Click "Extract All Files" on the left side menu of your folder's open window and click "Next" once the extracting menu opens.

3. Click the "Browse" tab in the "Select a Destination" box and select a folder to store the contents of your zip file.

4. Click "Next" once you have chosen a folder and check the box that reads "Show extracted files" on the next page.

5. Click "Finish" to open your unzipped files in a new window.
