How to Paste a Resume Online
A resume is a very valuable tool used to obtain a job. It supplies your future employer with all of the details of your skills, work experiences, education, contact information and more. A resume is not always required, but it is a good idea to use one when you submit an application for employment. Applying for a job online is common practice that mandates you must know how to paste a resume online as well. Accomplishing this only entails a few things and a little practice.

1
Create a good resume to work with. Make your resume in a word processing application using simple fonts and styles. Many places you paste your resume will not be able to use certain fonts or styles and your resume will appear with errors or look awkward.
-
2
Go over your resume, check for inaccuracies and verify the overall appearance of it. Read it over a few times and double-check the information. View it and make any change to the look of it, if needed.

3
Begin by practicing cutting and pasting your resume offline. If you are not used to doing this, make sure you are before you try it online. Read the next two steps to learn about this.
-
4
Use your mouse to highlight a section of the resume. Point the mouse at the beginning of the text, hold the left button on the mouse down and drag the mouse through the words you want to include and then release it.
-
5
Right-click in the highlighted section and select "Copy." Choose the place you want to put the text. Right-click and choose "Paste" to insert the text. Try this a few times until you are comfortable doing it.
-
6
Go online to the website where you want to paste a resume. Find out if you need to paste each section separately or if you can paste it all at once (see Tips section for a simple way to paste a complete resume online).
-
7
Paste your resume online using the method previously described. View the resume you pasted and check it for any errors, if this is an option. Make changes to the appearance, if needed.
-
8
Submit the resume once you are certain it is correctly displayed. Some websites alter the page setup or the fonts used.

Tips & Warnings
Use a program like Microsoft Word or Works, Corel WordPerfect or even WordPad or Notepad to make your resume. Some programs (like Word and Works) make it simple to highlight a paragraph of text. Place the mouse over a word in the text, use your index finger and click the button until it highlights the word, click it again quickly to highlight the entire section of text. Copy and paste it as needed. If the website you are using permits you to paste your entire resume at one time, there is an easier way to copy it using "Edit" on the menu bar. Click on "Edit," choose "Select All" and then either right-click and pick "Copy" or click on "Copy" from the "Edit" menu. The same applies for pasting your resume: Either right-click and select "Paste" or use the "Edit" menu.
Remember to save a copy of your resume and any changes made to it. This way you can use it in the future to paste online again.
