How to Clear an AOL Search History

Task such as altering personal settings and clearing the AOL search history are done within the AOL browser, using AOL's security settings.

Open your AOL browser. Click on your AOL Internet browser's icon, which can be found on your computer's desktop screen.

Click on the "Security" tab at the top of your AOL browser. When the "Security" screen opens, you will have the option of choosing which items you want to clear from the browser. Click on the "Select All" option.

Clear the browser's search history. Select the "Clear My Footprints" option within the "Security" window. Click "OK" to confirm the action. A pop-up window will appear and your browser will immediately begin working to remove the search items.

Restart your entire browser. When the pop-up window disappears, Click on the "X" in the upper-right corner of the screen. Re-open the browser by clicking on its desktop icon once again. When your browser reloads, the browser's search history should be cleared.

Tips & Warnings
To expedite the clearing process, opt to select all of your recent search and browsing history to remove everything at once. This method is much easier than deleting each option individually.
This feature is currently not available with AOL OpenRide. Make sure you really want to delete all of your search history before you do it. Once it is cleared, there is no way of retrieving it.
