  1. Step 1

    Hold your soiled makeup brushes under running warm water in the sink. Get Completely saturate the brushes with water then gently squeeze out the excess water.

  2. Step 2

    Apply a mild soap to the makeup brush bristles. A good hair shampoo or a mild facial cleanser works well for all kinds of makeup brushes. Choose a cleanser that will not damage the brush bristles, make them stiff or leave behind a chemical residue.

  3. Step 3

    Rub the cleanser through all of the brush bristles while gently massaging it into the makeup brush bristles to remove all of the makeup.

  • If you do not rinse out all of the cleanser you may get an unwanted residue on your makeup brushes that will not only affect the application of the makeup, but may contaminate the makeup as well. Do not forget to reshape your makeup brushes or the bristles will not work as well and may not last for future uses.
