It is possible to open your Windows system using a username and a password, but you are given the option to automatically log in to Windows whenever your computer is started. Automatically logging in allows any user access to your accounts and files, and can make it easier and more convenient to use many of the Windows programs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the Windows "Start" menu and click "Run."

  2. Step 2

Click "controluserpasswords" in the "Search" bar and press "Enter."

  3. Step 3

Click the check mark in the box that reads "Users must enter a name and password" to uncheck that option.

  4. Step 4

Click "Apply" to confirm the changes and then click "Automatically Log On" in your current window.

  5. Step 5

Enter your password into the "Automatically Log On" menu and click "Confirm Password." Exit the "Accounts" menu. Your password will be stored for automatic log-in.
