How to Wash a Harmonica

Playing a harmonica is an easy and fun way to pass the time. But if you are carrying the harmonica with you or playing it on a daily basis, there is a simple maintenance and cleaning procedure you need to follow to wash and keep the harmonica playing.

      Wipe the harmonica. Take a clean cloth and wipe any excess saliva or moisture from the harmonica.

      Play a light tune on the harmonica to loosen up the slide with a little warm air and moisture.

      Tilt the harmonica at a slight angle and barely dip the mouthpiece into room-temperature water, then take it out and shake off the extra water from the mouthpiece.

      Flip the harmonica over and lightly dip the hole side into the water. Take it out and shake off the water.

      Wipe away the remaining moisture and let the harmonica dry for an hour or two.

  • Don't soak the harmonica in the water.
