Almond flour is a gluten-free, low-carb flour that is rich in vitamin E and magnesium. Almond flour is a healthy and suitable substitute for other flours in most recipes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use almond flour on raw vegetables or meat before frying or baking for a crispy coating. To coat vegetables or meat in almond flour, pour the flour in a large bowl and place the food in the flour. Turn the food over to coat all sides. To make the almond flour stick better, dip the vegetables or meat in raw egg before coating it with the flour.

  2. Step 2

Use almond flour in place of other flours to make baked deserts, such as cakes and cookies. Most deserts turn out well when almond flour is used as the only flour in the recipe.

  3. Step 3

Replace 50 percent of the flour in a pasta, bread, pizza dough or other recipe where gluten flour is required with almond flour. Because almond flour is gluten-free, it will change the texture of foods that require gluten if used as the only flour. When almond flour is mixed with gluten flour, the texture of the food should be normal. Wheat flour is a common gluten flour.

  4. Step 4

Thicken sauces with almond flour. To thicken a sauce with almond flour, heat the sauce in a saucepan over a low heat. Gradually add small amounts of almond flour while stirring the sauce until the sauce reaches the desired thickness.

Tips & Warnings
  • Almond flour can replace other flours in most recipes, with good results. Experiment with using only almond flour or combining almond flour with other flours to achieve the best texture in foods.
