How to Convert WMV to MPEG4 on a Mac

WMV files are Windows-specific video files meant to play on Windows Media Player, making it difficult to play these kinds of files on Mac computers. Meanwhile, MPEG4 files are a more common kind of file, and, with some conversion programs, you can use Mac-specific products to convert your WMV files to MPEG4.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • WMV to MPEG4 conversion program
  1. Step 1

    Download and install a video conversion program, such as Evom. See Resources for a link.

  2. Step 2

    Open the program, and tell it to download the necessary components for video conversion.

  3. Step 3

    Drag your WMV file into the program, and drop it in the box where the program prompts you to drop it.

  4. Step 4

    Choose where you want to send the converted video from the list of options that pop up.

  5. Step 5

    Select your title, folder location for the file and the quality.

  6. Step 6

    Hit the "Convert" button, and wait for the video to be converted. You will now have a converted MP4 file.
