Drape your tie around your neck with the fat side on the right. -

How to Tie a Tie (9 of 9)
Adjust the tightness of the tie to your liking, making sure that the skinny end is hidden behind the fat end. If the skinny end is longer than the fat end, you'll need to start over. This time try to keep the knot tight through the entire process. This eliminates sloppy knots and re-tying. A properly tied tie should hang down to the middle of your belt buckle.
