Make food more fun by creating your very own Nannperpuss! What's a Nannerpuss? It's a banana octopus. Here's how to make one yourself.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 banana
  • pair of clean scissors
  • kitchen knife
  • your choice of color markers (or other creative face making items)
  • plate
  • sense of humor
  1. Step 1

Make sure you have all the required items for making your Nannerpuss. This includes a banana, a pair of clean scissors, kitchen knife, markers or other items to create a Nannerpuss face and a plate.

  2. Step 2

Peel your banana a little more than half way down. Try to keep the banana peels all close to the same size in width. Having four banana peels is optimal, but don't worry if this is not the case.

  3. Step 3

Using the scissors, cut the banana peels vertically until you've created eight pieces. This is how you create the eight arms of your Nannerpus.

  4. Step 4

Take the stem of the banana and cut it off using your scissors. Set it aside.

  5. Step 5

Cut the banana approximately 1/4" above where the banana peels end. This will create a small stump or platform for your Nannerpuss to sit on.

  6. Step 6

Put your Nannerpus banana side down on a plate so the legs are outstretched. You could also place it on top of a stack of pancakes, waffles, hot cereal or whatever you desire.

  7. Step 7

Make a face for your Nannerpuss. The easiest way is to draw a face on it with markers but feel free to use your imagination.

Some examples of other objects that can be used to create a face include soft candy pieces held on with broken pieces of toothpicks or gluing on craft type googly eyes.

  8. Step 8

Personalize your Nannerpuss. You can use the banana strings often found when peeling a banana to make hair, use the cut off stem piece to create a hat or whatever else you can think of.

Have fun and enjoy your Nannerpuss!

Tips & Warnings
  • create a blue sea for your Nannerpuss to enjoy by using blue food coloring to color pancake syrup, oatmeal or whatever it is your Nannerpus is sitting on
  • make sure children are supervised by an adult if they are creating the Nannerpuss
  • no bananas were harmed during the creation of this article
