Data entry is a very coveted work at home job. Many people seek home jobs and especially those with young children love data entry work because they are not tied down to a phone. Phone jobs, like customer service, can be stressful and because of this people turn to jobs that don't require them to be on the phone. Finding a data entry job isn't difficult, but landing one can be.

    Searching the various work at home forums and message boards will give you lists of companies that hire people to do data entry work from home. There are various companies like, Key For Cash, that hire home workers on a daily basis.

    Make a resume that is geared toward data entry work. You should include things like the speed and accuracy that you type, any data entry or transcription positions you have held, and any other relevant work history you may have.

  3. Step 3

    Brush up on your typing skills. Some companies may require you to complete a typing test in order to make sure you can adequately do data entry work from home. You can use websites like Free Typing Game to brush up on your skills before completing any typing tests for potential data entry positions.

  4. Step 4

    Prepare your home office. In order to obtain and keep a work at home data entry job you should have the proper office equipment. You should have a desk and a comfortable chair since you will be spending a lot of time in your home office.

  5. Step 5

    Read the directions completely before taking any typing tests. Some companies require you to use special key strokes for different areas of the test. If you don't read the directions, you may miss an important step.
