How to Grow Your Fish Tank With Platies or Guppies

This is how you can fill your fish tank full of platys & guppies. It is really easy, and pretty cheap!

Things You'll Need:

• Time
• Male & Female Platys
• Male & Female Guppies

1. 
    
   This is a Guppy diagram to show the difference between males & females

   First go to your local retail store that sells fish.
   
   Look for fish that are called Platys or Guppies. Each fish have a wide variety to choose from. Find your favorite ones!
   
   Guppies are small fish, and tend be colorful fish. They are pretty dependable, and don't die easy.

   Male & Female Platys

   Now let time take control. Guppies & Platys are fish that mate a lot.
   
   It is very common that they give birth 3 or 4 times a year. Each time they will produce 4 to 5 babies or more each time.

3. Some ideas if you have more than you need of Guppies or Platys?
   
   You can sell them to a fish buyer? Or neighbors/friends who have fish tanks? Most of these fish cost 2 to 4 dollars. You could sell them for $1?
   
   Another possible idea? It might be a little extreme? You could use them for temporary center pieces to a wedding? Fill a Jar with water...and you have some entertainment in the middle of the table?

Tips & Warnings

• This project will take some time
• It can be fun & a great way to learn about fish
• When you notice your female pregnant make sure you check to see if she had her babies, and make sure the babies are safe. Other fish will eat them. They are tiny when first born and are very easy to miss! Look carefully!
