Instructions

    • 1

Use a stick or hanger yo remove any paper products that might be covering the hole where the waste goes down. Lift the toilet seat; you will need a bucket or a container that can hold at least three gallons of water.

    • 2

Only do this type of unclogging if your toilet bowl isn't filled more than half way with water or waste; otherwise wait until it goes down to halfway or less.
If you are ready to unclog it, fill your bucket or container with very hot water to as full as you can fill it.

    • 3

Have someone push the handle down like you are going to flush the toilet and as soon as the handle is pushed down, dump the entire bucket of hot water down the hole very quickly without stopping until the bucket is empty. The force of the hot water should push through any clog and clear your toilet. Allow your toilet bowl to fill normally and give it a flush to see if the drain is cleared. If this doesn't work you might have to try it all over again but this should work the first time.

If your toilet wants to overflow, pull off the tank lid and pull up on the chain or ball to prevent it from overflowing onto the floor.
