Dandruff. Those flaky white pieces of your scalp that peels and looks unsightly. No one wants to have dandruff and there are some easy steps and precautions that you can follow that will reduce your risk for and help to prevent dandruff.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Air dry your hair whenever possible.

The heat from hair dryers can irritate the scalp.

  2. Step 2

Brush your hair with a bristle brush.

This style brush helps to evenly spread out the natural oils of your scalp and protects your scalp from drying, which contributes to dandruff.

  3. Step 3

If you use conditioner for your hair, make sure it doesn't touch your scalp.

Conditioner is meant for the hair and hair only, unlike shampoo which is meant for the hair and scalp. Conditioner can clog up the pores of your scalp, making your hair greasy and your scalp more prone to dandruff.

  4. Step 4

Rinse your hair with a diluted vinegar solution. Do this once a week.

The acidic nature of the vinegar can help to restore balance to the pH level of your scalp, kill the microorganisms that can cause dandruff, and completely remove all traces of soap, shampoo and conditioner from your hair and scalp, allowing your scalp the chance to breathe. This allows for a healthier scalp that has a greatly reduce risk for dandruff.

  5. Step 5

Once dandruff is under control, opt for a mild regular shampoo. Once a week, switch to a dandruff shampoo. This will help to prevent future outbreaks of dandruff and keep your scalp healthy.
