Things You'll Need:
- A Twitter account
- or another micro blogging account
-
Step 1
Find other people that are in a similar field as you, and become their friend and follow them. Don't be shy, following strangers on Twitter is not stalking -- it's like a virtual handshake. Use this to stay competitive and knowledgeable in your field of expertise.
-
Step 2
Don't be careless with your posts. No one cares about that juicy hamburger you had at lunch time. Instead, only blog about things that may benefit the user and your network. For example, if your network is mostly about web designing and Internet marketing, take the time to find relevant articles on the topic and post links to them. This will increase your reputation, and more people will begin following you and what you have to say.
-
Step 3
Be active is probably the most important step you can take in becoming more marketable on Twitter and other micro blogging platforms. The reason for this is simple: to increase your marketability, you must increase your visibility. That's the whole point, of course! To do this, reply and interact with meaningful dialogue with your followers and those you follow.
-
Step 4
Use the wallpaper background of your profile page to promote your services. Don't just put up a random background. There are templates you can use if you are not a designer, to put up your photo and some general information about yourself.
-
Step 5
Of course, all these steps would be for nothing if you don't give them some way to access your services. Always link to your homepage or your company's site. This way, if they want to learn more about what you can offer them, they are just a click away.
