Bee stings are a miserable and painful experience for anyone, and can possibly be life threatening for those who are allergic. People who weren't previously allergic to bee stings can become allergic as they grow older, and multiple stings can increase the risk. Follow some simple precautions to avoid getting stung by a bee.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Avoid wearing brightly colored clothing and patterns. Bees are attracted to color.

  2. Step 2

Resist using fragranced body and hair products. Bees are attracted to floral scents.

  3. Step 3

Always wear shoes to prevent being stung on the foot by stepping on a bee. The more foot coverage, the better to prevent being stung through openings in the shoe.

  4. Step 4

Avoid areas where there are a lot of flowers or wood, such as decks and picnic tables.

If you have a lot of wood around your home, consider treating with a bee deterrent.

  6. Step 6

Wear a hat. Bees have the instinct to be on guard around hair to protect their hives from animals who want to steal their honey.

on 8/26/2009 One more thing - If a bee does land on you, don't move around or swat at it. When it realizes you're not a flower, it'll fly away. 5*
