How to Make Scratch and Sniff Watercolor Paint
For a quick craft project, make scratch and sniff watercolor paint with your kids. You can make these paints in many different colors from ingredients you probably already have on hand. Homemade scratch and sniff paint is simple enough for even very young children to mix and paint with and is not only non-toxic, it's edible. Your kids can use these paints to make scented wrapping paper, greeting cards or paintings. Mix your scratch and sniff watercolor paints in small jars with lids such as baby food jars so you can store the paints for future use.

Tips & Warnings
Use a separate jar for each color.
Paint should be fairly thick. If it is very runny, add more powdered drink mix to thicken it.
Mix a pinch of salt with each color to add shine to paint.
Thicker paper such as construction paper works well for watercolors and will not tear when scratched.
Give each child a jar of plain water to rinse brushes.
Watercolors will become muddy if colors are applied wet over one another, so allow each color to dry before painting over it with a different color.
