If you love baked potatoes but don’t have a spare hour to bake them, try cooking them in the microwave. Microwaved baked potatoes are just as good as potatoes cooked in the oven -- as long as you use the proper technique -- and cooking them takes considerably less time. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

      Scrub the potato with a scrub brush under running water to clean it.

      Add a tablespoon of water to the bottom of a microwaveable container so the potatoes don’t taste dried out.

      Place the potatoes in the container and use a fork to punch several holes in each so they can vent while cooking.

      Microwave the potatoes for four minutes and then turn them over and microwave for an additional four minutes. The potato is done when it is soft when you squeeze it. Lower wattage microwaves may require the potato to be cooked for an additional minute or two.

Tips & Warnings

  • The potatoes will be very hot coming out of the microwave.
