How to Make Whole Wheat Bran Muffins
Bran muffins are a light breakfast food that can provide you with a good energy boost and the fiber your body needs. Packaged muffins can be overloaded with sugar and made from bleached white flour, so making your own whole wheat bran muffins is a healthy alternative. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- ½ cup raisins
- 1 cup bran flakes
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ cup chopped nuts
- 1 egg, beaten
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons safflower oil
- 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- Muffin pan
- 2 bowls
- Large spoon or stirring utensil

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

Grease the muffin pan with vegetable shortening or non-stick spray.

Combine the flour, raisins, bran flakes, baking soda, baking powder, chopped nuts and salt in a bowl and stir thoroughly.

Combine the egg, milk, honey, safflower oil, vinegar and molasses in another bowl and stir thoroughly.

Make a well or crater in the middle of the dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients. Stir thoroughly. This gives you your basic muffin mixture.

Pour the mixture into the muffin pan until the top of the mixture is flush with the top of the cup.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. The tops of the muffins should be relatively firm, not gooey.

Tips & Warnings
If you need more sweetness, add about a teaspoon of sugar.
