Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that all outlets have 3-wire receptacles. If your home has 2-wire receptacles, have your home rewired. Three-prong outlets are safer because the third prong grounds the electric current.

    • 2

Use ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) on outlets in damp areas, such as kitchens, bathrooms and outdoors. GFCIs switch off appliances before injuries occur.

    • 3

Cover unused electrical outlets with plastic safety covers to prevent objects from getting in them and to prevent children from playing with them.

    • 4

Do not connect too many appliances into 1 plug. Overloaded outlets can become hot and pose a fire hazard.

Tips & Warnings

  • Unplug appliances when they are not in use.

  • Never remove the third prong from a 3-pronged appliance.
