Cleaning the tire rims of a car is important because no matter how clean the rest of the car is, if the rims aren't shiny, the car will not look as good. Cleaning the rims will add little time to the overall cleaning process of a car and will be worth it in the end.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Mix 8 oz. full-strength cleaner into a bucket of water. A cleaner like either 409 or Fantastik will work.

  2. Step 2

Spay the rims with water and then spray them with the full-strength cleaner. Let the cleaner sit and break down the grease for a few minutes.

  3. Step 3

Scrub the rims with a small brush, making sure to get into the hard-to-reach places. A toothbrush will work well to get into the small corners of the rims.

  4. Step 4

Put on the rubber gloves and soak the wash mitt in the water and cleaner mixture. Wipe down the entire rim to remove the built-up grease and dirt.

  5. Step 5

Rinse off the rims and dry with a towel to reduce water spots.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use separate wash mitts and towels for the car and rims.
  • Full-strength cleaner is strong and could damage the paint on the body of the car. Make sure it does not get onto the car paint when cleaning rims.
