Rolex is a Swiss watch company and the largest manufacturer of luxury watches in the world. The backs of all Rolex watches have grooves around the outside, requiring the use of a watch opener tool to remove the back. Most watches do not have these grooves. If you remove the back of the watch case, be careful not to damage the sensitive Swiss movement inside the watch. You would need to remove the back to clean the watch or perform repairs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Watch case opener tool
  • Soft cloth
  1. Step 1

Put the Rolex face-down on a soft cloth so the crystal does not get scratched when you remove the back.

  2. Step 2

Adjust the prongs on the wrench-style watch case opener tool to fit in the grooves around the outside of the case back. Loosen the prongs by unscrewing them and tighten the prongs in place by screwing them back in. They can be easily moved to fit the size of your Rolex watch case. See the Resources section below for an example of a wrench-style watch case opener tool.

  3. Step 3

Put the prongs in the grooves and twist the tool one-half of a turn to the right to unscrew the case. Remove the tool and use your fingers to fully unscrew and remove the case back.
