Use Malaseb

Malaseb is an antifungal and antibacterial shampoo that veterinarians prescribe to treat ringworm and a type of canine and feline eczema called seborrheic dermatitis. Malaseb is effective against the flaking, irritation, oiliness and itching caused by these disorders. Treatment with Malaseb normally continues for several weeks, until skin tests show that the fungus or bacteria causing the inflammation have disappeared.

Instructions

    • 1

Wet your pet's coat thoroughly with warm water. Carefully wet around the pet's ears and mouth.

    • 2

Apply Malaseb on the affected areas first, then add enough around the rest of the pet's coat to lather his whole body. Lather the areas near the tail and ears and between the animal's toes.

    • 3

Leave the shampoo on the animal for 10 minutes. Keep the animal contained in the tub or otherwise restrained, to prevent it running around and removing the shampoo.

    • 4

Rinse the pet's coat thoroughly with warm water.

    • 5

Allow the pet to air dry. Towel drying or blow drying the coat could irritate the affected skin.

    • 6

Wash your pet with Malaseb twice a week. For dogs, continue the treatment twice a week until the symptoms have disappeared, then once a week for as long as your vet recommends. For cats, wash the animal with Malaseb twice a week for 6 to 10 weeks, as recommended by your vet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use Malaseb for more than 16 weeks, unless recommended by your vet. Malaseb can cause serious eye and gastric irritation. Keep the shampoo out of your pet's eyes, and ensure that the animal doesn't ingest any of the lather by drinking or licking.
