How to Draw Surf Art

Surf art comes in many forms and styles, but it tends to involve beach or ocean scenes, and surfers or other water sports. Colored pencils will allow you to illustrate the depths of the water with blues and greens.

      Primary Objects in the Drawing

      Use a regular pencil to sketch out the primary objects in the drawing. This includes the parachute (for parasailing), surfer, surfboard and waves.

      Color in the Lightest Points First

      Observe the drawing, and color in the lightest points first. Color in the light part of the waves in silver and the parachute in yellow.

      Color in the Water and Surfer

      Color the water around the surfer a deep blue. Alternately, you can draw white areas around the surfer edged in dark blue to represent a stronger current. Towards the edge of the painting, color in the water a darker green. Color in the surfer and his surfboard.

      Waves in the Water and Shaded Parachute

      Draw curved lines in blue pencil to mark the waves in the ocean around the surfer. Shade in the parachute and draw the ridges in it as well.
