1
Apply for an Employer Identification Number. Many showgirls are hired as independent contractors and are responsible for filing yearly taxes. If you enter an independent contractor agreement with an establishment, contact the Internal Revenue Service to request an EIN. You must provide a current mailing address, phone number and Social Security number with your application. There is no filing or application fee.

2
Contact a photographer to obtain full-body photographs. Generally showgirls are required to provide a recent head shot and/or full-body photograph. When applying for work as a plus-size showgirl at a venue in a different state, upload several "character looks" online and e-mail them to the Web address along with your letter of consideration. Most venues require photographs before an interview is granted, especially for nonlocal talent.

Audition for venues specifically seeking plus-size women, including to those venues with "character" or themed shows that celebrate plus-size women. While the majority of showgirls are thin to voluptuous, there are venues that cater to only plus-size performers, and they will advertise this requirement. Remember, for symmetry, traditional venues do not hire plus-size performers unless the production requires that her body type be used in juxtaposition to other performers.

4
Purchase basic costume pieces. While the majority of venues provide your costume, you may be required to purchase individual pieces to compliment headdresses as well as the overall costume. Because plus-size showgirls are generally required to wear large headdresses, many of which may be decorated with distinctive feathers, ornate beading and spangles, you may be required to purchase a wig or other jewelry to complete the look. Use an online source like Costumzee.com or Ebay. Both sites have clothing, wigs and feather dressings for purchase.

Continue to participate in song and dance classes. Showgirls must learn and perform elaborate theatrical productions. As a plus-size showgirl, you are required to demonstrate a consistent level of vocal and dance training as well as a commitment to new routines and choreography.
