How to Decorate a Bow Window
A bow window refers to a set of adjacent panels that form a large window that curves outward from the wall of a building. If a home does not already have bow windows, many homeowners install them in order to visually open up a room. Choosing how to decorate these unusually shaped windows, however, can be challenging. Fortunately, the answer lies in the decor style and/or goal that you are trying to achieve. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Opt for roman or roll-up shades if you intend to create a look characterized by clean, simple lines.
-
2
Cover each panel of the bow window with shutters that either reach down to the floor or are custom fitted to your window. This option allows you to adjust the window's level of privacy. Use wood shutters if you are decorating a country-style interior and plastic or vinyl shutters if you are after a more modern look.

3
Install a window seat directly below the bow window. Create a comfortable sitting place by decorating the window seat with throw pillows and blankets in various colors and textures.
-
4
Hang a valance over the bow window if you want to keep decorative elements to a minimum. This is a suitable option if you want to highlight a window's beautiful view or simply do not want to fully cover it.
-
5
Add drapes to a bow window. Use a layer of sheer fabric, which provides privacy and tempers glare as opposed to completely shutting out light. Hang a sheet of thicker, opaque fabric over the sheer fabric. This second drape will enhance the appearance of the room and, when desired, prevent light from entering the room.
