How to Make a Circuit

A simple circuit is a path for electricity that goes from the power source to the object and back. Very few parts make this circuit "simple," but simple circuits---from those found inside flashlights and older fans---are found everywhere to help make life easier.

Things You'll Need

  • Electric tape
  • Light bulb from a flashlight
  • AA battery
  • 2 lengths of small gauge wire
  • Leather work gloves
  • Wire strippers

Instructions

    • 1

Strip both ends of both strands of wire. Place the end of one of your wires into the wire strippers and squeeze the handle. The object here is to remove 1/4 of an inch of the rubber armor from the wire. Repeat this process to expose all wire ends.

    • 2

Place one end of a wire to the bottom of the light bulb and secure it with a small piece of electric tape. Place one end of the other wire to the side of the bottom part of the bulb. Secure it with electric tape.

    • 3

Follow the wire from the bottom of the bulb. Secure the other end of it to the negative end of your battery.

    • 4

Touch the remaining wire end to the positive end of the battery and see the bulb light up. This is a working simple circuit.
