Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an algae wrap product. Look for a product made from pure seaweed, which provides the best detox results. Most of these products are available in powders, which you mix to create a body wrap.

    • 2

Mix the algae wrap. Once you've purchased an algae wrap, follow the directions to mix the powder. The process typically involves using a spatula and bowl to mix powder with the amount of water called for in the wrap's directions. Blend well until you get a smooth consistency.

    • 3

Mix a couple drops of lavender into the wrap. Since algae can have an unpleasant smell, mix it with a couple drops of lavender oil to neutralize the odor.

    • 4

Wrap your body using thermoplastic mylar foil, which can be purchased at your local beauty supply store. Brush the algae mix onto your body and wrap yourself with the mylar foil, starting at the bottom of your body and working your way up. Once you're finished wrapping your body, seal the wrapping with a heating blanket to activate the treatment. Since each product is different, read the directions carefully to determine how long the wrap should be left on. In most cases, it will be about 20 minutes.

    • 5

Unwrap your body. Carefully remove the product in a warm shower. As your peel off the wrap, rinse the entire area of your body covered with the algae with warm water. Pat yourself dry with a warm towel and apply a moisturizer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have someone help with the algae detox wrap. Although it's possible to wrap yourself, it will be much easier if you have help. Take turns with a friend to make the process more fun.

  • Don't use an algae wrap if you're allergic to seafood or iodine. These wraps can cause an allergic reaction in people with these allergies.
