Start with the walls. You can use a peel and stick jungle mural which is available online, or hand paint a fun jungle scene yourself with an artistic friend. Jungle scenes tend to be a bit dark, which may be a bit too intense for a child, so keep the look light and age appropriate. Think "Jungle Book." Use the mural as an accent wall and paint the remaining walls a muted green or khaki color.

Cover the windows with hand made curtains created from tiger patterned fabric or sheets. Purchase sheets or thin fabric from your local fabric store and cut and hem to the length of the windows. Hang from a standard curtain rod or use clip holders on a plain rod to avoid hemming the top of the material. Conversely, to tone down a tiger theme you can also select to use plain bamboo shades over windows to give the eye a break from tiger patterns in the room.

Cover the floor with a novelty tiger striped rug or a rug with a tiger scene on it. Novelty and specialty rugs are available online and at some local super stores so shop around. You can also use a piece of faux tiger fur to substitute for an actual floor rug if desired. Simply pick up the faux fur at a fabric store and lay it over your wall to wall carpeting.

Decorate the walls with tiger posters. For very small children you can use a cartoon tiger image (such as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh,) and for older children you can use more safari and live tiger photographs to decorate the walls. Choose tiger images that are peaceful versus attack or snarling poses.

Customize a mirror. Purchase a small mirror with a white wood frame and paint with tiger stripes. You can also decorate with a decoupage treatment using tiger photographs from nature magazines. Paint stripes with acrylic paints and a medium sized paintbrush or decoupage the frame by using collage medium and magazine images, layer and gluing as directed on the decoupage medium container.

Finish off the room by accessorizing it with tiger toys and collectibles. Tigers or tiger patterns can be found on everything from notebooks, pencils and key rings and miscellaneous items like these help decorate desktops, dressers and bedside tables.

Tips & Warnings
Have your child help you pick out tiger items to get them excited about the new room decor.
Use the tiger motif sparingly so as not to overpower the child. For instance, if you have a jungle mural on one wall use only one other tiger poster in the room. Use tiger sheets and pillow cases but a plain comforter on the bed.
