Become a Gothic Vixen with these 5 easy-to-follow steps to applying gothic-style make-up.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dark eye shadow colors
  • Pale face powder
  • Slanted eye shadow brush
  1. Step 1

The key to accomplishing the gothic make-up look is to keep the face pale with minimal blush and dark eye shadow. Brush on a paler than normal skin tone colored powder to the entire face. Sweep some of the powder down the neck to help balance out the coloring.

  2. Step 2

Apply a nude pink blush to the cheeks for a natural look, or go completely blush-less. Sweep a light gray shadow onto the upper eye lid. Add a second coat of the eye shadow.

  3. Step 3

Grab a slanted eye shadow brush and sweep on a black or dark gray eye shadow over the crease – or contour – of the lid. To create a cat eye effect, brush some extra shadow onto the outside corner of the eye just past the natural lash line. Brush some of the darker shadow over the middle of the lid, avoiding the inside corner.

  4. Step 4

Apply a kohl black eye liner to the upper lid, extending the drawn line just past the natural lash line with a quick up sweep motion. Line the lower lash line with the same kohl black liner, again extending it just past the natural lash line on the outside corner of the lid. For a smoky look, smudge some of the outside corner of the lower lid with a damp Q-tip.

  5. Step 5

Apply jet black mascara to the upper and lower lashes. Once the first coat has dried, apply a second coat. For a dramatic look, add a blood red or dark purple lipstick to the lips. For a more natural look, apply a nude pink gloss.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure there is minimal blush applied, if any is applied at all.
  • Keeping the face pale is key.
  • Blend in the pale face powder down the neck to balance the look.
  • Make sure the skin is properly hydrated with moisturize before adding pale face power.
  • Don't cake on the pale face powder.
