Making your own homemade blue cheese dressing in your own kitchen has countless benefits. Just to mention a few; your ingredients are fresh, your utensils are clean and you can pronounce all the contents knowing they are good for your health. Begin with buying a block of blue cheese. You can select the size you want, the age of the brick and check the date on the package. If you don't use it all, it can be sealed in a zip lock storage container and kept in the refrigerator for nearly a month. I have also frozen my left over blue cheese. It takes on a little different texture, but the flavor is the same when the freezer zip lock storage bag contents is used. Consider wrapping the unused blue cheese in a white paper towel before storing it in the refrigerator. This will keep your blue cheese fresher, longer.

Use Hellman's Mayonnaise or your homemade mayonnaise for your base.Select the base for your best blue cheese dressing. It can be sour cream for a tangy accompaniment or mild homemade mayonnaise. If you are watching the ingredients closely, check to make sure you get only the base with the ingredients you desire without a large degree of the fat content. Miracle whip can be chosen as a base too. The texture will depend on how much base you use. I like mine a little on the creamy texture, so my base is a good amount to accommodate my desired consistency.

Choose a glass mixing bowl for your best blue cheese dressing.Mix, in a medium, glass mixing bowl, the base and your blue cheese together until they are thoroughly blended for your best blue cheese dressing. Serve immediately or store in a sealed, semi air tight, glass container. Do not use a plastic storage container, since the cheese will take on some of the taste of the plastic. Enjoy yourself, with your family or guests on your favorite salad or menu dish.
