How to select the best tires for your ATV!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pen
  • Paper
  • Performance Desire
  1. Step 1

ATV tires can effect performance significantly. These parts can improve or detract from your ride, getting sand and mud kicked in your face sucks and the correct tires and rims will prevent that! There are a few key points to getting the most out of them. First decide what if any ride improvement you are after.

  2. Step 2

Second is to decide what outside diameter best suits your machine, although larger tires roll over obstacles and bumps easier they also sap more power from the machine. Big motored ATVs have less issues but many smaller machines need to stick close to the stock diameter for keeping the power on tap especially if you work your ATV hard hauling up and down steep grades. If you have a 4X4 ATV keep the tires and rims over all diameters matched up front to back and your differential will stay in good shape. Mismatched diameters may look neat but will result in broken ATV parts if ran in 4X4 mode!

  3. Step 3

Third is to decide the style of your tire. The lug and tread pattern is also one of the big factors to consider. General performance and harder terrain will best be suited by the knobby tread pattern ATV tires. Slop riders or mud runners want a big V pattern lug. Sand and dune runners should find the tall paddle designs to their favoring. Where and how you ride is what you should think about here.

  4. Step 4

Fourth, decide the width of your ATV tires. Tires and rims need to match. Only certain tires and rims will fit together. Wider is great for flotation but the widest you should go is 5-6 inches wider than your rims. Narrower sizes should stil stay 3 inches wider than your rim width. The wider your ATV tires are from stock the more possibility of clearance and issues you may have inside of the machine.

  5. Step 5

Fifth is to go and purchase the ones you have chosen. If you still have questions get answers! It is your hard earned money getting laid down here and you deserve to be heard if any doubts well up. Mototiresonline.com is an excellent source for ATV tires and can answer your questions before your purchase! Don't hesitate to ask first and buy second. Customer service is what a good company is all about. The last step is to simply enjoy the ride!!!!!!
