Reconnect with Classmates on Facebook
Reconnect with Classmates on Facebook

Don't be afraid of Facebook. It's an awesome tool to help you find old friends. This article will help you get started on Facebook and reconnect with classmates.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  1. Step 1

    >>>Start a Facebook Profile<<<
Facebook is easy to use and over time I have found it to be extremely helpful in finding friends from college and high school. To get started you need to go to facebook.com and sign-up for a free account.

  2. Step 2

    >>>Set You Privacy Settings<<<
One thing that I know many people are concerned about with Facebook is keeping their personal information private. To do the all you need to do is look in the upper-right corner of the screen and select "Settings" > "Privacy Settings". Here you can control who can see information on your profile page, who can search for you, what they can see, and how they can contact you. You can also control what recent activity is visible on your profile and in your friends' home pages and what information is available to applications you use on Facebook. That's a lot of control!

  3. Step 3

    >>>Search for Friends<<<
The search box is in the upper-right of almost any Facebook page. If you are searching for a particular person just type his/her name. You may have to wade through a lot of results. A great way to find school friends is to search on the name of your school. Let's say that you went to Santa Barbara High School...then search on exactly that. You may find a group with members who graduated from there. Once you find a particular person you can request to add them as a friend by clicking on the "Add as Friend" link to the right of their name on the search results.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that your female friends may have changed their name when they got married
  • You don't have to accept anyone's friend request
  • It is easy to stop being friends with someone on FB
