How to Make a Mosaic Bird Bath Pedestal
If you have one of those old concrete bird baths in your yard, you can make it look updated and chic by applying Mosaic tile over it. You can even customize the colors according to your outdoor decor. Who knows maybe it will even help to attract more exotic birds to your yard! Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Tiles
- Construction adhesive
- Grout
- Hammer
- Tile nippers (optional)
- Old towel
- Sponge
- Latex gloves

Clean the entire surface with some old rags and white vinegar to remove any bird droppings and dirt from the bird bath. Rinse it well with a garden hose.

Place the tiles on a flat surface and place a towel over top of the tiles. Hit the tiles gently with a hammer breaking them into small pieces. If you prefer, you can use old broken china found at garage sales and thrift stores. Either way, the application is the same.

Mix a batch of the tile grout according to package directions. Apply the grout to the birdbath, with a gloved finger, pressing it into all of the spaces between the tiles. Wipe the entire surface clean with a wet sponge. Let dry for 2 days before filling it with water and placing the birdbath back into the garden.
