Emoticons are icons for your computer that display your emotions to your friends and family. Normally used in instant messages (IMs) or emails, they are most commonly recognized as smiley faces. From your MySpace instant messenger, you can customize and create your own MySpace emoticons to represent your personal emotions and feelings. You can use any pictures or graphics you desire to design your emoticons, but the graphics cannot exceed 100 kilobytes (KB). It will take you just a few minutes to create your own MySpace emoticons.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Log in to your Myspace account. Go to your instant messenger (IM) and select the "File" link.

  2. Step 2

Select the "Preferences" tab and then go to the "Emoticons" link. Click the emoticon bubble and then choose "Add."

  3. Step 3

Verify that a new search window opens when you click on "Add" and then find the picture or animation that you want to use for your personal emoticon.

  4. Step 4

Select the graphic you want to use for your emoticon and click on the "Open" link. Create a shortcut for your emoticon by choosing a reference name for the graphic (see the Tips section).

  5. Step 5

Complete the creation of your new emoticon by selecting the "Save Changes" button and exiting from the emoticon creator. Your new emoticon is in your library to be used during your next IM session.

Tips & Warnings
  • To make it easier to remember your keywords, select a name based on the graphic. For example, if your emoticon is a picture of a cat, use the word "cat" as your shortcut word.
  • The graphic or animation you select for your personal emoticons must be no larger than 100 KB.
