How to Install Corsair Memory
Among the many brands of computer memory Corsair stands apart for its use of quality products and innovative cooling solutions on its memory modules. The addition of heat spreaders and variety of memory offering require a slight planning of memory installation when considering Corsair memory.
Instructions
-
-
1
Disconnect your computer from any electrical power sources.
-
2
Remove your computer's side access panel. This may require removing two thumbscrews on the rear face of the computer's case.
-
-
3
Determine the orientation of your memory slot and how close it is to other components on the motherboard. Common close components include: CPU heat sink, data cables and power supply cables. If there is a conflict of space consider rearranging the wires or replacing your CPU heat sink to a more slim profile heat sink.
-
4
Take one Corsair memory stick and install it in the first memory slot by pressing it into the memory stick interface slot with the pins towards the motherboard. This slot will be marked as A_1 or DIMM_1 on the motherboard. Memory slots are located to the right of the Processor on most modern motherboards.
-
5
Repeat step four with any subsequent Corsair memory sticks until all memory slots are full or you have no more Corsair memory to install.
-
6
If your Corsair memory module as a heat spreader on it ensure it is not in contact with any other memory module's heat spreader as this provides for poor cooling.
-
7
Replace your computer's side panel and reestablish any electrical power severed previously.
-
8
Boot into your operating system and ensure the system is reading all the memory you have installed.

Tips & Warnings
For DDR2 and DDR3 memory it is important to install in pairs and triplets respectively in order to take advantage of channeling technology.
Never force a memory module into a memory slot. If it does not fit easily with little force it is either the wrong memory type or a defective memory unit.
