MP3's are popular audio files used for listening to professional or amateur music. With its high compression ability while still maintaining quality, MP3 files are a desired format to have. However, not all MP3 files are not completely compatible with all media players. Windows Media Player, for example, can play MP3's but not as well as Windows Media Audio files (WMA). By following these steps you can easily convert a MP3 file into WMA format and play high quality songs on your Windows Media Player.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download the free MP3 WMA Converter 1.8 at the Cnet website (see Resources). This is a spyware free, 6MB file sized converter software that is incredibly user friendly with an easy to use interface.

  2. Step 2

Install the converter into your computer once you have finished the download. Ensure that its saved in a directory where you can easily find it. Then open the MP3 to WMA converter software.

  3. Step 3

Drag and drop your MP3 file into the converter window. Your media file will appear in the "Files to convert" window.

  4. Step 4

Select the "Output path" for your file to save to a location in your computer when it is done converting. You can designate this path by pressing the ellipses button and save the file output.

  5. Step 5

Choose the format quality you wish to save into your WMA file. A general rule of thumb: the higher the hertz and kilo byte sound quality the larger the file and the longer it will take to convert.

  6. Step 6

Press the "Convert" button to begin the conversion process of your MP3 file. A progress bar will appear next to your file indicating how long it will take for it to complete.
