How to Get a Job Testing Laptops

Companies that produce goods need some amount of testing to assure quality before the goods enter the market. To build a status of trust among customers and increase profits, they have to deliver products that function properly. Laptop manufacturers are no different. You can get a job testing laptops, but because the field is competitive, you must use several resources at the same time to be successful.

1. Take a course. Many schools offer a variety of courses in computer technology. Laptop testers need to know how to install hardware and software, troubleshoot for problems, and build networks.

2. Get certified. You may improve your chances of securing a job as a laptop tester by obtaining some of the certifications for computer support professionals, such as the CompTIa A+ certification. The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) provides this certification, among several others.

3. Apply for a laptop tester position through a staffing agency. Because of the amount of time it takes to find talent, a considerable number of information technology (IT) companies prefer to fill open positions through staffing agencies. While it is possible to get an IT job through general agencies, you may have better luck finding the type of job you want through an agency dealing exclusively in IT positions.

4. Apply directly. Search for local IT companies involved in the business of building laptops and personal computers. Visit the employment section of their website or call the human resources department to enquire about possible openings.

5. Search career websites. Some career websites, like Dice.com, are dedicated to job openings in the IT industry. However, one can also find IT jobs through general career websites like Monster.com and Careerbuilder.

6. Network. Circulate your resume and cover letter through friends and colleagues who work in IT companies or may have connections to others who do. Consider joining LinkedIn, a website for networking and meeting people in different industries.

7. Attend career fairs. Some career fairs are organized solely for individuals interested in positions in the IT field. These are the best places to meet hiring personnel from companies in this industry.

8. Search for a laptop testing job in the classified section of your local newspaper.
