Instructions

    • 1

Find a well-ventilated workspace, and cover it in newspaper for easier cleanup.

    • 2

Clean surface of shoe with cotton balls dipped in nail polish remover (acetone). This allows paint to adhere better to the shoe.

    • 3

Blend acrylic paints with acetone in about a 5:2 mixture to ensure the paint won't crack on the shoe leather.

    • 4

Paint your custom design on the shoe in three or more coats. Wait for each coat to dry before proceeding.

Use a clear coat finish spray or paint to seal your custom design. Two thin coats work better than one thick coat.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always use clean brushes. Use larger (1" or more) brushes for large areas, the detail brushes for smaller areas. Never let paint dry on brush- keep it submerged in water when not in use. Use your paint mixture on another surface before applying to shoe. If there are tiny bumps, add more acetone. Push firmly with brushes for a smoother surface.

  • Nail polish remover (Acetone) is very flammable. Nail polish remover can irritate the eyes, respiratory system, and cause dizziness. Thick coats of paint or clear coat give the shoe a bumpy look.
