How to Dry a Mattress Quickly

Aside from discomfort, a wet mattress causes a number of problems. The development of mold and mildew can lead to foul smells and respiratory issues. It can effect the bedding that is placed upon it and become a breeding ground for bacteria. It is imperative that your mattress be dried as quickly as possible. While it can seem like a hassle, it's worth the effort to dry your mattress in minimal time.

Things You'll Need

• Hair dryer
• Kitty litter
• Fan

Instructions

1. Set the mattress outside on a sunny day. Drag it outside early to take advantage of as many daylight hours as it may need.

2. Set a fan close by and turn it on so the air is hitting the damp spot to help it dry.

3. Use a hair dryer held over a wet spot on the mattress. Keep the hair dryer moving around the wet spot until it is dry.

4. Set kitty litter on a damp area or spill. The kitty litter will help to draw the moisture out of the inside of the mattress. Vacuum it up after 1 to 2 hours. Then use a fan to help dry the surface of the mattress.

Tips & Warnings

• Ensure that the mattress is completely fry before putting sheets or bedding back on it as this will cause mold.
