How to Clean With Microfiber Products
While microfiber cloths are still gaining popularity in the United States, they have been a hit in Europe since the early 1980s, according to the folks at Microfiber-Products, LTD.
There are many advantages to the design of microfiber cloths, such as using fewer chemicals and less water. Microfiber manufacturers, such as Microfiber-Products, LTD, say that chemicals are not needed for many cleaning applications because microfiber is so efficient at swabbing up dirt and grime. Unlike cotton fibers, microfibers have channels that capture and hold dirt until the cloth is cleaned.

Cleaning With a Microfiber Cloth
-
1
Wet the cloth. For cleaning, dip the cloth into a pail of water. Start with plain water until you determine whether extra chemicals are needed.
-
2
Wring out the microfiber cloth. If the cloth is dripping wet, it will not be effective at cleaning. Microfiber-Products says that a cloth that is too wet will leave streak marks on the surface it is cleaning. For best cleaning results, make sure the cloth is damp. Wipe the area that needs to be cleaned.

3
Clean the cloth. There is a limit to how much a microfiber cloth can hold. If it becomes too soiled, it is time to launder it.
Microfiber cloths can be machine washed. However, do not add fabric softener. Microfiber cloths will react to the fabric softener as if it is dirt and try to absorb as much of it as they can. This will make the cloth less effective when used.
Cleaning With a Microfiber Mop
-
4
Dip the mop into a bucket of clear water. For most cleaning applications, no extra chemical will be necessary. However, if cleaning chemical is preferred, try mixing less than the amount used with a traditional mop.
-
5
Wring out the mop. Again, like the cloth above, microfiber mops are most effective when they are damp, not dripping wet.
-
6
Wash floor as with a traditional mop.
-
7
Repeat steps one through three as necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Microfiber cloths are an excellent choice for "green" cleaning, since they require little or no cleaning chemicals to work. Ultra-microfiber can absorb 7 times its weight. Microfiber mops can clean a greater area than traditional mops before needing to be "re-dipped."
