Instructions

    • 1

Use a wire brush to clean the area. Sweep away any debris and rinse with a garden hose.

    • 2

Dampen the edges of cracks so the cement doesn't draw moisture out of the grout when it's applied. Don't leave standing water in the work area.

    • 3

Use a caulk gun to inject latex or epoxy cement into the cracks or use a pointing trowel or putty knife to force the latex into the cracks. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your product.

    • 4

Let the epoxy cure or dry for the length of time recommended by the manufacturer.

    • 5

Mask unevenness by lightly wetting the cement and applying a mixture of 1 part cement, 2 1/2 parts sand and enough water to create a mixture with the consistency of stucco. Use a trowel to smooth the mixture.

    • 6

Cover the repair with plastic for at least 5 days to allow the cement repair to dry thoroughly.

    • 7

Repair holes in concrete by cleaning and then filling with latex cement. Fill the holes 1/4 inch at a time, allowing the cement to dry between layers. Follow Steps 5 and 6 above.

Tips & Warnings

  • Epoxy and latex cement can be purchased at home improvement stores. Select epoxy and latex cement that's designed for this use. Work on an overcast day so the cement doesn't dry too quickly.
